The stories behind the numbers
Nourish Community Foodbank is a local charity supporting people in crisis by providing emergency food and essential supplies at moments of acute need.
Their work relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and community groups, alongside the commitment of volunteers who help keep operations running.
The brief
As part of our corporate social responsibility commitment, we selected Nourish as our ‘Charity of the Year’.
Our brief was to create a campaign film that could raise awareness of food poverty locally, communicate the human impact of Nourish’s work, and support ongoing fundraising and community engagement.
Our approach
Food poverty is a sensitive subject, and it was important that the stories were handled with dignity and care. Rather than filming contributors directly, we developed three short films based on written testimonials from people who had received support from Nourish.
Each film was carefully scripted to preserve the authenticity of the original words, while protecting anonymity. Visually, we focused on cinematic, slow-motion sequences filmed within Nourish’s warehouse, showing volunteers assembling and delivering food parcels. This grounded the stories in action, without placing individuals in front of the camera at vulnerable moments.
Each piece is narrated by a friend of Nourish, allowing the stories to be shared with warmth and respect, while maintaining an appropriate distance between storyteller and subject.
The outcome
The films provide Nourish with a set of sensitive, adaptable campaign assets that can be used across digital and physical settings.
They are shared on YouTube, embedded on the charity’s website, distributed through social media channels and used at events to support fundraising and awareness activity.
By centring the work on lived experience, while removing pressure from those in crisis, the films help audiences better understand the reality of food poverty and the vital role Nourish plays within the local community.
