Chronic kidney disease
The brief
To create a learning and development film that humanised chronic kidney disease by telling the story of a patient navigating diagnosis, consultation, and treatment.
It needed to function as a credible educational resource for clinicians, while still reflecting the emotional reality of living with a long-term condition.
Our approach
We worked closely with the EPG Health team to shape a voiceover-led animated film grounded in clinical accuracy and human experience.
Using a script written by Medthority’s medical writers, we developed a clear narrative structure that followed a patient through a consultant appointment and an exploration of current treatment pathways.
Our approach combined character-led animation with simple, supportive iconography, allowing complex medical information to be absorbed without cognitive overload.
Every creative decision was guided by empathy, clarity, and respect for a highly knowledgeable audience. This was not about simplifying the science, but about presenting it in a way that felt relatable, purposeful, and credible.
The outcome
The finished animation functions as an engaging e-learning asset for healthcare professionals, supporting understanding of chronic kidney disease through storytelling rather than instruction alone.
By balancing factual rigour with a human lens, the film helps clinicians connect clinical decision-making with patient experience.
The result is a piece of healthcare animation that reinforces Medthority’s commitment to independent education, while demonstrating how thoughtful storytelling can enhance medical learning and professional engagement.
