Board induction
The South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) was one of 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships established to provide strategic leadership and drive private sector-led growth across East Sussex, Essex, Kent, Medway, Southend and Thurrock.
The brief
When COVID-19 restrictions prevented in-person onboarding, SELEP faced an immediate challenge.
New board members needed to be inducted and briefed on complex legislation ahead of their first formal meetings, with no opportunity for face-to-face delivery.
We were briefed to create a clear, accessible e-learning module that could replace in-person induction, be delivered remotely, and meet a fixed deadline that could not move.
Our approach
We proposed a voiceover-led learning and development module designed to communicate complex governance and legislative information with clarity and pace.
The creative treatment combined character animation, iconography and kinetic typography to support understanding without overwhelming the viewer.
Working closely with SELEP’s communications team, we developed a structured storyboard that adhered to existing brand guidelines and was organised into clear chapters, allowing board members to navigate each section of legislation with confidence.
The entire project was delivered remotely, from concept through to final output, with a strong focus on reliability, accuracy and usability rather than unnecessary polish.
The outcome
The completed module enabled SELEP to induct new board members successfully and proceed with its first online meeting as planned.
By replacing in-person training with a clear, well-structured digital alternative, the organisation avoided disruption at a critical moment.
Delivered within seven days, the project demonstrates how thoughtful, people-led storytelling can support governance and decision-making, even under severe time and operational constraints.
