People at the heart
Stagecoach is one of the UK’s largest bus operators, serving communities across East Kent and East Sussex, with routes extending into Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells.
The brief
As the organisation prepared to launch its five-year strategy, People at the Heart, the challenge was to communicate long-term direction in a way that felt clear, credible and relevant to both colleagues and stakeholders.
The brief was to produce a film that could introduce the strategy, explain its priorities, and reinforce a sense of shared purpose across a diverse, geographically spread workforce.
Our approach
Working closely with the Stagecoach South East Communications team, we developed a leadership-led film that balanced strategic clarity with human connection. The Managing Director, Joel Mitchell, introduces the strategy, setting context and tone, before members of the Senior Leadership Team explore the five key pillars: Safety, Our People, Our Customers and Stakeholders, Sustainability, and Service Delivery.
To ensure messages felt direct and authentic, contributors spoke straight to camera, filmed using a multi-camera broadcast setup that allowed for natural delivery without over-rehearsal. These leadership moments were interwoven with carefully observed footage of colleagues across the business, captured in slow motion using prime lenses to create a calm, considered visual rhythm.
The combination of direct address and real working environments helped ground strategic ambition in everyday experience.
The outcome
The finished film was launched internally via Stagecoach South East’s communications platform, Blink, and continues to be shared at stakeholder events across Kent and East Sussex.
By presenting the strategy through the voices of those responsible for delivering it, the film helps colleagues understand not just what the strategy is, but why it matters and how they contribute to it.
For Digitom, the project reflects our belief that effective strategy communication depends on trust, clarity and respect for the audience, not corporate performance.
