The Caddy Family | Maidstone Borough Council

Production of two children’s cartoon exploring the importance of food recycling.

THE BRIEF

Maidstone Borough Council provides local government services for Kent’s county town and residents. We were commissioned to produce two short animations featuring a family of recycled food, to be used online and as part of a workshop for primary school children.

OUR APPROACH

‘At Home With The Caddys’ features Captain Caddy, Edna Eggshell, Grandad Teabag, teenagers Anna Applecore and Si Sweetcorn, toddler Sophie Strawberry, baby Pip Pea-pod and Noodles the dog, created and illustrated by Maidstone Borough Council.

‘Schools Food Waste Competition’ features Captain Caddy and Anna Applecore as hosts of a glitzy awards ceremony, announcing the runner-up and winner of Maidstone Borough Councils challenge to local schools to design a recycling campaign. With a nod to the Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway Oscars envelope fiasco Grandad Teabag gets in on the act.

Food recycling is a big focus for us and we needed to create a video which would engage young and old alike. By working with Digitom, we were able to grow our food characters and give them personalities. The end result is a fun and educational video which we can use on all our communication channels.
